Kiana Phelps takes Girls 200 yard freestyle gold – High School State Championships, Wyoming
Kiana Phelps of JAC took the title of Girls 200 yard freestyle at the High School State Championships in Gillette, Wyoming USA on Saturday, October 27.
With her astounding pace, Phelps remained comfortably ahead of her opponents throughout the discipline and sprinted her way towards the wall for gold medal.
She enjoyed a lead of one and a half body length over her toughest competitor and made her way to the wall for gold medal with the timing of 1 minute and 59.59 seconds.
The champion was followed by Katelyn Olson of RAW, who was 1.31 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall for silver medal with a nice timing of 2 minutes and 00.90 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Carolyn Kennedy of WOR, who stayed nearly three body lengths ahead and emerged on the wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 04.18 seconds.
Subsequently, Kennedy remained 0.42 seconds faster from Morgan Gramlich of LAN, who settled on the wall as fourth position holder with a timing of 2 minutes and 04.60 seconds.
On the other hand, Connor Tarver of JAC occupied gold medal of the Girls 200 yard Individual Medley (IM). Tarver faced no trouble from her opponents in the race and clinched the title by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 11.71 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Sammy Crawford of LAN, who stayed four and a half body lengths apart and reported a time of 2 minutes and 16.17 seconds for silver medal.
Crawford was traced by Caley Stafford of BUF, who remained significantly slower from her foregoing finisher and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 25.86 seconds.
Stafford stayed a body length away from Katie Forton of LAN, who settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by producing a time of 2 minutes and 27.03 seconds.
In addition, Phelps and Tarver were overjoyed with their title claiming efforts in their exclusive events and received massive admiration from the audience at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
