  1. A fight in martial arts is a matter of discipline, mental focus above all. It is your internal power of focus and determination that marks your success, no matter what other factors might be.

  2. For most amateur fights the weigh-in takes place that afternoon the day of the fight leaving a fighter little time to drop the last few lbs/kg and then recarb up and gain all their strength back.  As I see it you could try to do that or go in a few kg/lbs over and hope you don't get canceled.  This is a big problem along with fighters not showing up that many amateurs encounter as they try to gain experience.  I took several fights in my amateur career where my opponent was a pound or two over weight and only once said forget it and to pull the guy because he made no effort to lose the weight and he was not even close to the limit for the division we were fighting in.  Talk to your trainer and coach about this.  They might encourage you to fight anyways hoping that the other fighter agrees to it and says OK.  I would also add that promoters and decent fighters hate this and dealing with it and if you are going to be a fighter and expect to get a fight in the future that you avoid having this happen very often.  In the pros this even happens and sometimes it has an affect on your money or purse and oftentimes if it happens to many times a pro fighter finds himself suspended and fined as well as makes it harder for him/her to get fights.

  3. Focus you winning the fight. Focus on how you will win the fight. Get sleep, eat well, and just think only postive parts of the fight.

  4. sufficient amount of rest,  no s*x/masturbation - lots of vids of foreign fighters in higher divisions/weights that make you think 'w/e i could have him'....once you switch into that battle mode again,  that should give you the motivation and drive needed for the fight.

If you lose the will to win,  doesn't matter how good your phyiscal condition is - you'll find it tougher than it ought to be.

Good luck with the fight mate.

  5. are you trying to lose or gain. if you ned to lose weight a couple hours in a sweat suit and a treadmill may work to get off the water weight. if you need to gain take protein supplements and lift. if you do not have a coach to help you with this you are screwed

  6. I agree with some of the answers already given, particularly the ones about motivation and think winning.  Unfortunately you state "coming up" rather than the exact time to the fight and the amount of weight you must loose before it.  I also assume you mean full contact, American, kickboxing rather than anyother kind.

In any case I believe that getting rid of a considerable amount of weight  will make you weak and it's likely to jeopardise your stamina: this can be ok if you are fighting 1-2 rounds but it will make it very difficult for you to last 3-5 or more rounds.  You might have the will and committment to win but if you arms and legs won't move well you'll be defeated.  A suggestion could be to loose enough weight to get into your category and, once passed the weight check, get enought energetic food (speak to a sport dietologist about it) to ensure you integrate what you need for the fight.

    All the best
