Kickboxing or Pilates?

I'm fifteen years old. I want to lose about 17-20 pounds by this time next year. I'm already working on the food part.

I want a new skill that's fun, and can help me get in shape.

I'm not exactly out of shape, I'm pretty good at cardio, but I'm a little lazy and I REALLY want to be in shape.

So should I do kickboxing or pilates?

What's more fun? Have you done either? How was your experience?

  2. With regards to losing weight quicker, Kickboxing is be your best bet. Its really intense and has explosive movements, kicking, punching darting, shifting and this will really give you the full body workout. And your metabolism will be sped up as a result.

    Pilates is a more calming exercise aimed at strengthening your core. You will lose weight, but not as quickly as with kickboxing. It'll mostly tone up your body.

    What about a little of both?

  3. Never heard of Pilates, but I do kickboxing, and it is great cardio. But it depends how hard you work. I've noticed people lose significant amounts of weight in our dojo.

  4. Cardio kickboxing is very fun and is great for conditioning.  I have always enjoyed it.
