  1. a kickboxer

  2. In any fighting situation the man or woman who wins is the person who believes in themselves and their art the most, confidence is the key followed by skill. Both systems have a lot of merit but you cannot eliminate the human psyche as most fights are won by the mind and spirit.

  3. a kickboxer will beat the c**p out of a karate expert in the octagon cage, ccmon now thats like a full contact fighter vs a seld-defense expert, like a Lion and a Gazelle, but the gazelle cant run away because their in a cage

  4. Kung Fu beat all

  5. bring a gun. you will always win

  6. Karate! !

  7. ive trained with both and it is purely down to the person and their own training

  8. I have trained in both Karate and Kickboxing (American), I really like both, but I don't consider any martial art superior to another. Differences in fighting does not equal superiority imo. It really all depends on how gifted the practitioner is in their selected martial art, that will determine the outcome of the duel.

  9. "karate was proven less effetive then kickboxing" wtf? When, and by whom? were there rules? "the karate fighter is like 17 and the kickboxer is like 25 so more muscle" Who said there was an age differnce? I swear peoples answers get more eignorant every day on here, and idiots that have no idea what they are talkin about.

Have you ever seen a good Okinawin karate-ka fight? It looks a h**l of a lot like a Mauy thai fighter, with low kicks, knees, elbows, clinch fighting. Now add to that the fact that Okinawin karate has many locks, throws, take downs, sweeps, chokes, it sheds a whle new light on it. okinawin karate has intense body conditioning. Add to that the fact that karate actually teaches you to move out of the way or move in such a way that it minimizes the damage that you tak, where Mauy Thai is about who can take more punishment.

All that being said it all depends on the fighter, and whos rules you are fighting under. Karate allows a lot more targets then kickboxing. In the end though ti is the fighter that will determin who wins, not the style.

  10. Kickboxing is a ring fighting style while karate is a self-defense style.

Kickboxing is limited, it does not teach weapons usage, weapons defense, or multiple attack defense or kata.

The karate practitioner, if traditionally trained, would kill the kickboxer with a weapon, or a spear hand to the throat or an eyejab.

  11. A Karate Expert would whoop ***

  12. there is no such question as to who would win. why? because mabey the karate guy is 17, while the kickboxer is 25... 25 has more muscle, while it could be vice verca too, also, it depends on what kind of training they do, and what style. personally though, i have tried kickboxing and karate both, and i would thing kickboxin would win because of conditioning

  13. depends on the style of kickboxing, like is it savate or muay thai or what

    same with karate,

  14. that would depend on the person and the circumstances.

EDIT>i agree tired of morons who have no clue.

  15. Such a boubt would boil down to the "Kick Judges" any way and be called a "draw" once the score keeper tabulated the scoring judges cards they'd have to check closely with the kick judges just to find that such a fight is a draw any way you cut it.  I guess it depends on who's rules these two are fighting under.  There wouldn't be much of a difference between the two fighters actually even if you take a close look at the technical aspects of it you'll see that "karate" could easily hold its own in the ring.  After all "Karate" is the foundation of Kickboxing"  I like the IKF's rules so I'll automatically assume that we're talking this fight would be under the IKF's rules.  I would like to see a "NO SWEEPS" rule added to the IKF's "Full Conatact" rules though.  With or without sweeps this fight would go all 12 rounds if it were a pro fight and I still say it would be a draw.  I hate IKF's International / Leg Kick rules "shin kicks" are a Muay thai thing and the IKF already has Muay Thai rules for Muay Thai fighters so The International rules are null and void via the motis operandi of the IKF unless you're just going to admit that your IKF org has two sets of Muay Thai rules that is.

I think "kickboxing" should go back to it's original rules:

All strikes must land at or above the opponent's waist

No strikes to kidney area of opponent

    No sweeps of any kind

No shin contact ( rule strictly enforced "immediate disqualification" - anything beyond accidental )

No knee strikes ( rule strictly enforced "immedate disqualification" )

No elbow strikes ( rule strictly enforced "immediate disqualification" )

No clinching ( repeated violations will result in a one point deduction for fighter instigating clinch )

No grabbing a thrown kick in any manner

in order to be considered a true "kickboxing" sport.  Then we'll talk winners and losers later.  "Traditional American Kickboxing" rules and nothing more....Wake up IKF!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. if you want me to show you come to my house.

  17. William P basically nailed it.  Most Kick boxing comes from Karate, even Muay Thai was influenced by a Vietnamese version of Shotokan Karate.   I have trained both Karate and Muay Thai and I can tell you that atleast my style of Karate (Kyokushin) fully incorporates all of Muay Thai techniques and then a whole bunch more stuff for the street.

In a sport match I would say it depends mostly on the fighter not two very similar styles like Karate and its sport offspring Kickboxing.  In the street I give the edge to Karate, if it is a real style like Kyokushin or Kenpo.

  18. The kick boxer or boxer would have a much harder training than Karate or TWD or things like that, and that makes the boxers and kick boxers superior to other martial artist.

And by the way Karate was proven to be the leest effective in a fight and kick boxing was best then boxing.

  19. to eliminate the individual talent as a factor. you can put the top 10 muai thai fighters against the top 10 karate fighters. Muai thai fighters condition their striking weapons (shins, elbows, etc) but they also conditioned their body to take hits for 3 or 5 rounds. If you put on a set of gloves as well, then, the muai thai fighters have all the advantages. Unless, your training consist of iron jacket or iron shirt conditioning and also consist of taking hits to the head, you will not be able to match muai thai fighters. Lots of fighters performed really well until they got hit in the heads, or legs by muai thai fighters and they lose all their energy, techniques, and hence the fights.

In ring fight, i predict muai thai wins by 8-2

in Street fight with no rules, muai thai wins by 6-4.

  20. I think the kickboxer would have the edge as the training is much tougher. However, it also would depend on the person. It wouldnt surprise me if a karate expert won occasionally.

To express my point more clearly there have been occasions (rare i admit) when a 2nd division football team lets say have played a friendly against a premiership team and won. Probably because the premier team is used to dealing with totally different styles.
