i would go with jl audio if i had the money. why? because they are the best you get what you paid for which is something you wont have to change out for like 10 years. you can push these subs and amps and they are built to last. althought i love the new jl sub look the all black which rocford fosgate tries to have the same look but the black more metallic but the amps are great looking. kicker is just known becuase they are the ones to come out with solar baric so if you want loud hard hitting square subs go with them. alpine im not to familar with their subs, though i do like their amps not to familar with the newer ones but the older i know they rocked pretty good for lilttle watts. but here a website(s) for you to look and see all types of amps and subs brands. there alot just have to choose really what you want and what attracts you that what i did i have 1 12inch jl audio w6 with a discontinued model of rockford fosgate t500-1bd amp the series isnt discontined just the style of mine is. sounds good hit really hard to for a 12.

i am sure most people will tell you that alpine and jl are the way to go.  what you need to determine is what size of enclosure you are going to be able to build.  kicker subs are excellent for tight spaces.  the other thing you have to examine is how you intend on wiring the subs.  my subs are overdriven, but you can't do that with jl subs.

that being said, i have an all rockford fosgate system.  3 rockford dvc subs (2ohm) each powered by a 1000w mono bridged amp.  rockford is excellent quality for the money you pay.  with alpine and jl, what most swear by, you are overpaying because of the brand name.

if i had to pic the nicest looking amps, i'd go with alpine.  my rockfords look good, but alpine's style is better.  as for the look for the subs, i'd take rockfords over the others.
