  1. 2-channel means two outputs.

    Mono means one output.

    You'll want a mono amp.

The number of channels on an amp doesn't limit it to the number of speakers you have connected, but impedance (ohms) and the frequency being sent to specific speakers does.

You can put as many speakers on a channel as long as the impedance doesn't fall below what the amp can handle or the power handling of the subs isn't exceeded by more than 10%. Since subs cannot tolerate high freqencies, they too are usually driven by a seperate amp as well as the difference in power. Most systems will have higher powered amps for the subs than the other speakers.

It's better to under power than over power. It's best to match the RMS power handling of the sub(s).

The ONLY three things that will blow a speaker:

    1. Over powering

    2. Clipping

    3. Time

There are those that think under powering causes damage. These are the people that like to hold on to myths.

  2. chan aka channels mean that u can add more than one thing to ur amp. like u can have the bass all the way down on ur 6x9s on one channel and have the bass all the way up on the other chan conected to ur subs. i do know that ur getin some good subs and what u need is any thing like a rockford or... well just any amp (name brand) will work just stay in the 1200 1500w range for an amp

but do stay away from legacy. they look good but they suck.
