Kicker comps sound weird?

i just hooked my subs up to my friends alpine 1000 watt amp (my subs are kicker comps). there brand new. and thet dont go deep. its not deep at all. any help?

  1. Are the subs in an enclosure?

    Subs don't generally do well without being in some sort of box. They do best in a well designed box specific to the subs.

    Also, was the gain on the amp set right?

    The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).

  2. make sure that both of the subs are connected the same wayin to the amp output channels..for example if the positive output from amp is connected to the positive connector of the sub and the other sub is connected positive output to negative connector then the subs are working against each other. . check the source it has pictures to better understand
