  1. the amp needed depends on the model of the sub that you have, the 2ohm or the 4ohm version

the 2ohm version can be wired to give you impedance's of .5, 2, or 8ohms at the amp and the 4ohm versions can give you impedance's of 1 or 4ohms at the amp

this link will help you with your sub wiring for different impedance's http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

the lower the final impedance at the amp the lower the sound quality but the easier/cheaper it is to power-- not all amps are stable below 2ohms so they will run hot and go into protection (turn off to protect themselves)

for subs you need to get a mono block (1-channel) amp because they are made just for subs and specialize in low/deep frequencies so they will always run cooler than 2 or 4 channel amps

you SHOULD get a CEA-compliant brand amp because the amps have been tested and produce of exceed the advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion (distortion is the main casue of speaker damage)

    here are the CEA-complinat brands

    Alpine

    Bazooka

    Blaupunkt

    Clarion

    Eclipse

    Infinity

    JBL

    JL Audio

    JVC

    Kenwood

    Kicker

    Memphis

    MTX

    Orion

    Pioneer

    Polk Audio

    PPI

    Rockford Fosgate

    Sony

if you send too much power to your sub, you risk damaging it. The cone of the speaker and the mechanical parts that make it move may break under the stress. Surprisingly, too little power can also damage your subwoofer — in fact, it's actually more common than damage caused by overpowering.

Even the toughest sub, however, can be damaged by excessive distortion from a clipped signal.

When the volume is turned up and the amp doesn't have enough power, the signal becomes distorted, or "clipped." This distorted signal can cause parts of the speaker to overheat, warp and melt. Not good!

You don't have to match speaker and amp wattages exactly. An amp with a higher output than the speaker's rating won't necessarily damage the speaker — just turn the amp down a bit if you hear distortion from the sub and don't run the speaker at extremely loud volumes for lengthy periods. Likewise, you'll be OK with a lower powered amp if you keep the volume down and don't feed a distorted signal to the sub

here is a good site for amps and they show you the RMS wattage @ different impedances (ohms) clearly http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i23_m...

  2. well the kicker 10 l7 are 600 rms each, so you will need an amplifier that can send 1200 true watts rms @ the ohms you wire your subs.

if you wire the subs @ 1 ohm, then your amp should be 1200 watts rms at 1 ohm.

(you will have to do 0 gauge wire upgrade and a new alternator to provide your 1200 watts you need, else you will provide way less power than your L7s need and it will follow that your L7s wont sound as good as they are supposed to sound)
