Kicker subwoofer question

I am looking on purchasing the Kicker 08DS12L72 for my friend because he's always wanted to beat me in the subwoofer contests, but never has. What the question is though is that if I get this enclosure that is 2 12" solo baric L7's, if each is 2 ohms, can I wire both of them down to 1 ohm? There is a 4 ohm and 2 ohm option I believe, and I'm getting the 2 ohm option because it matches with an amplifier I am fond of using. Thanks!

  1. no take it from me i work at kicker you have to have 2 4 ohm speakers to even attemp to try and wire it to 1 ohm but be careful i test those all day long and we only run the speakers at 1 ohm for about 1 minute if you run it much longer the voice coils will over heat and basically shatter stick with 2 ohm the same as the amp

  2. If you get 2 DVC2's, you cannot wire them to 1 ohm. You're only options are .5 ohm, 2 ohm, and 4 ohm.  In order to get a 1 ohm load, you're gonna need 2 DVC4's.
