Kickingthelilly with just the right credentials for the Marsh Green Handicap at Lingfield
The Class 5 Marsh Green Handicap is to be staged at Lingfield over seven furlongs on Friday, 2nd March. The title will be contested for by four runners who will battle for the £2, 386 purse.
Kickingthelilly, Byron’s three-year-old chestnut filly out of mare Teller, has stamped two races while finishing second in one of the three races she participated in.
On 15th January, she was second in the 32Red Casino Median Auction Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton over seven furlongs. The race was won by the 5/6 favourite, Boudoir who had the race in his favour only by a mere shoulder’s margin.
Finishing the race third behind the winner was Naughtical.
Kickingthelilly did not wait for long to strike a victory. She won the Tickets At Southwell – Racecourse.Co.UK Median Auction Maiden Stakes on 2nd February at Southwell over seven furlongs. She led the field of six by 1 ¼ lengths which meant that Bond Style finished the closest to him and was soon followed by Handsome King.
Kickingthelilly was the 2/1 favourite of the race and truly deserved it.
Her last race before today was the Download Williamhill.Com On Your Mobile Handicap on11th February at Kempton. She won by three lengths while the 11/4 favourite of the race, Casa Bex, made it through the finishing line fourth behind the winner.
Kickingthelilly is stepping into her fourth race of the new season and has all the chances of striking a hat trick through today’s outing.
It is not only Kickingthelilly who gets to decide the level of competition on the field as another worthwhile entry is Homeward Strut, Needwood Blade’s three-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare Piccante.
He was immaculate in the last two races out of the four times that he ventured out this season.
He won the Play Bingo Free At Bluesq.Com Handicap on 3rd February at Wolverhampton over seven furlongs. Homeward Strut had an advantage of ½ a length and had Songbird Blues finishing the closest to him.
Third in line behind the winner was the 4/7 favourite of the race, Speedy Yaki.
On 17th February Homeward Strut won the Play Rainbow Riches At Bluesq.Com Handicap at Wolverhampton over seven furlongs. Today will be his fifth start of the season and an opportunity to strike a hat trick.
