I'm looking for ski or snowboard pants for a 9-year old who is tall, but very thin. Typically, the lenght is good, but the waist is way to loose. Anyone have experience with this? Any good brands to look at?

  1. i would suggest going to a store called zumiez.  they do have youth size snowboard outerwear, and it is almost a seamless transition from kids sizes to adult sizes.  also, most of the snowpants they sell have handy waist sinchers that can make the pant waist smaller without a belt.  i work there, so i have seen many families run into this problem.  one GREAT solution i have found is to suggest a brand called Empyre.  its our store brand, but its really great stuff.  10,000 mm waterproof rating, and very warm with great pockets everywhere.  at any rate, this brand comes in kids, adults and women.  and the great thing is that the kids pants are identical to the mens pants. and the mens pants are identical to the womens pants.  therefore, the kids pants are identical to the womens pants.  so your kid can try a womans pant and he will NEVER know the difference. trust me.  if he wears a size 12, toss him into a women's small or medium.  it should give him a good size in the waist, but much longer length than the kids stuff.

    good luck.
