Kid Cassidy to strike a hat trick through the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup (Handicap) at Cheltenham
Cheltenham is to stage The Grade 3, £42, 713 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup (Handicap) over two miles and 110 yards. Participating today are twenty-one five-year and older thoroughbreds to get crowned for one of the most prestigious races
on the calendar.
Majority of the candidates on the lineup are highly competitive and promise the connections and crowds a race that will keep them entertained from the gate to the wire.
Trainer Nicky Henderson seems to be holding the ace who can get the tables toppled for the rest competing. Kid Cassidy, Beneficial’s six-year-old bay gelding out of mare Shuil Na Lee, is unbeaten in the last four tasks that he undertook. Two of the victories
stem from the new season.
Making one of the most impressive entries into the new season, Kid Cassidy was the 2/5 favourite winner in the Clive Pavilion Beginners’ Chase on 19th January at Ludlow over two miles.
He was riding with Barry Geraghty and led the field of five by a staggering thirty-one lengths. Finishing the closest and monopolising the runner up’s spot was Silver Gypsy while ending the race right after him was The Black Baron.
Cornering Kumbeshwar by 3 ¾ lengths, Kid Cassidy won the second start of the season that was in the Grade 2 Sky Bet Mobile For IPhone Lightning Novices’ Chase on 28th January at Doncaster over two miles and half a furlong.
The 4/5 favourite could not culminate the chance into a victory after falling down during the course of the race.
The six-year-old raced three times during the previous season and held on to the quality performance that he was delivering, initially be scoring second and then claiming a race and then finally had to discontinue racing after falling in one of the races.
On 6th May, Kid Cassidy was the 5/2 favourite winner of the Star Best For Racing Coverage Novice Hurdle at Punchestown over two miles. Paired with A. P. McCoy, Nicky Henderson’s under charge was in lead of thirteen lengths.
Celtic Folklore was the runner up while Glenstar ended third.
Third start of the season will entitle Kid Cassidy a hat trick. An entry to look out for is the six-year-old Astracad who is up for racing his seasonal debut today and is not only well rested rather he has won and was positioned in the last two starts that
he made at Cheltenham.
