Kid Galahad nails Josh Wale to defend WBC International super bantamweight title – Boxing news
Kid Galahad, the WBC International super bantamweight champion, successfully defended his newly acquired title for the very first time and collected a ninth-round technical knockout win over fellow Briton Josh Wale, the former BBBC Central Area super bantamweight
champion, in a 12-round bout held on May 12, 2012.
The ring for the event was set up at Hillsborough Leisure Centre situated in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom and the event was promoted by Mick Hennessy of Hennessy Sports.
The above duo headlined the showdown whereas the bout between Colin Lynes and Junior Witter with Colin’s BBBC British welterweight title on the line co-headlined the Saturday night extravaganza.
Kid, 22, is a surging young Briton who since the inception of his career has been in a total 11 bouts and boasts an undefeated streak. He has not lost even a single bout and has collected four of his wins by knocking the opponent out cold.
The young lad was entering in his 12th career bout against a pugilist who possessed a bit more experience. Josh, 24, was in his career’s 19th bout and emerged victorious in 14. He has collected seven of his wins by knockout and to some extent possessed better
knockout proficiency than the Kid.
Despite the above fact, Josh also has collected three losses and since his last loss has fought men with least experience. Kid, on the other hand, was coming from a huge unanimous decision win over Jason Booth, a bout in which he grabbed his WBC International
super bantamweight title.
Josh, also known as the ‘Outlaw’, received an early cut that halted his performance to some extent in the later rounds. Kid took full advantage of this fact and connected many heavy duty jabs that inflicted maximum damage to Josh’s body and face.
During the whole bout, Kid used his intense speed and threw almost invisible jabs to Josh which rattled him so much so that in the later rounds Galahad gifted another cut over Josh’s other eye.
After the end of the ninth round, Josh’s face was so much bloodied that a doctor was called in to inspect whether he is able to continue the bout or not. After careful examination, it was declared that the bout has been ended and Kid has strengthened his
win streak by another emphatic win.
The proud and excited Kid, later on, remarked, “I wanted to see if he had strength in his punches. I picked him off, found my range, my timing, boom! I was too quick, too strong and he under-estimated my strength and also my inside fighting. I knew it was
just a matter of time.”
With this win the young Briton has collected his career’s 12th win and fifth by KO whereas Wale has received his fourth career and second knockout loss.
