Does anyone know of a restaurant in St. Louis, MO that is kid friendly while still appealing to more developed palates? I am graduating with a masters in May and would like to take my family, including two nephews ages 3 and 8, to a nice dinner.

  1. this town is so chain happy and it shows by these answers.  i went with a large family group recently to sage on lynch in soulard.  they have a lot of room and its upstairs room has really high ceilings so the kids can be a little louder.  the food is nice, fresh and lots of options.  franco has a very nice little alcove that you could reserve for semi private dining.  they specialize in french cuisine but tend to branch out a bit as well.  a very nice place indeed.  both of these places are going to have things that kids will eat too (fries, chicken, cheese, what have you)

  2. My nephews are older than that now, but they used to like Crackerbarrel, because they could play checkers and look in the store, and they still like the Elephant Bar in West County shopping center, Red Robin, El Maguey and any Chinese restaurant.

  3. How about the Boathouse at Forest Park. It is somewhat casual and, definitely, kid-friendly.

    Forest Park Boathouse

    6101 Government Dr

    St Louis, MO 63110

    Phone: (314) 367-3423

    Other suggestions:

    Melting Pot

    Dave & Busters

    Cheesecake Factory

  4. I love maggiano's in Brentwood. The food is excellent, it can be dressy or jeans with a nice top and they have rooms in the back so you can have a larger party and the kids won't disturb a lot of people. It can be pricey, but fairly style is $25 - all you care to eat of 10 selections on the menu. Good Luck and Congrats!

  5. The Old Spaghetti Factory (on the Landings, it's just a cool place and maybe you can eat in one of the rail cars)

Kobe's (West Port Plaza the Japanese chef cook in front of you on the table)

The Millennium Hotel Restaurant (the one that revolves)

Macaroni Grill (the kids can write on the tables)

  6. Houlihans, kid friendly and sophiscated.

The Elephant Bar, great menu, fun scenery, good times  http://www.elephantbar.com/locations.asp

    Dewey's Pizza, fun  and GOODhttp://www.deweyspizza.com/stlouis

Frank and Helens, pizzarea with GREAT FOOD, kid friendly, (ask for a ball of dough for the kids to play with)

    HOPE THIS HELPS!

  7. 1111 Mississippi or Vin de Set, both in the Soulard area.

  8. Any restaurant is kid friendly if the kids are well behaved. While you can expect that from an 8yr old, a 3yr old is iffy. I know that nothing makes me madder than paying for a nice meal and having it interrupted by children who are being ignored by their parents and running wild in a restaurant. If that's going to be the situation, you might want to consider a family restaurant instead of something more upscale. If not, I just enjoyed the Boathouse in Forest Park, you might want to check that out.

  9. Red Robin is great! TGIF's caters to kids too...but something more upline?  Maggiano's in Clayton.  delish!

  10. joe's crab shack is very kid friendly, and very good food we love it , lot's of things for them to be entertained with on the walls ,tables, and ceilings

  11. Congratulations!!

I like the japanese steakhouse at the top of westport plaza ,they put on a good show. Royal chinese barbacue on Olive in U-city is a small place and the food comes quick to keep'em occupied, There is India Palace on top of the Howard johnsons by the airport it has alot of room around the tables, and big picture windows that look out over the airport and if your 3 you can sit on the windowsill and watch the planes take off and land.

  12. Sage is an excellent restaurant (as recommended by someone else).  Fitz's in the Loop is also good...not nearly as upscale but better than a chain restaurant....

  13. hooters!
