Kid friendly dinner party?

Question

Ok, I am having a dinner party for my sister, Dora, who is engaged. I am under major stress being pregnant and all, and feeding 8 people doesn't help. My four year old, Meg is going to be at the party, but it is an adult party (the sitter is busy) Is there any activities or fun foods that a toddler can do while a party is going on. Her friend Linny is going to be over. No one is available to watch them! I don't know how to keep her out of trouble while trying to celebrate1

Sure,you could let her join yall,but being 4 yrs old,she may seem to be under your feet a bit. Since her lil friend will be there,they could color(color wonder?)They could play school or flashcards. No matter what they do,they will still act like toddlers and all. lol!

well she's only 4 so obviously keep her with you, just set up a smaller table neaar the big one and have lots of nibble food like party pies, pizza, sausage rolls etc. also have lots of colouring books, playdough, lego etc but remeber to decorate the little table to so she doesn't feel left out. make sure you or atleast someone doesn't get too blotto so you can keep an eye on the kids. and remeber even with everything i'm sure the kids will still want to join in the adults, maybe set up another room with a video and tell your daughter it's her own private slumber party with her friend, remeber to check on them = ) and of course the other alternitave is find another babysitter

I would set up a kids table in a room that is separate from the adults but easy enough to listen out for/watch the kids.  Cover the table with white butcher's paper or white craft paper and have plenty of stickers, crayons, etc on hand so the girls can make a "masterpiece".  It would be easy and less messy if the girls had chicken tenders, baked fries, and carrot sticks or something like that for dinner.  Make sure they get some dessert, too...especially for being good.  They can decorate their own cookies or something like that.  Sugar cookies, prebaked from the grocery bakery, and food safe markers (available near the cake decorating stuff) makes an easy, less messy dessert.  Good luck!

You could give them the option to stay with you, or go play games. if they choose games then you could go rent new videos, so this way they are entertained and remain in one room. You could also go to the store and say pick out one new toy and when you are there pick up fun snacks and maybe buy coloring books or something that will make them concentrate/keep them busy.
