Me and my husband are looking for a nice kid friendly restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Our child is 18months old, and I dont want it to be fast food. We live in Illinois so downtown Chicago restaurants are great, and suburaban as well. We just need it to be kid friendly, and the wait time cant be too long as well as kid menu is a must.

  1. This will sound goofy, but for what you're looking for, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. at Navy Pier is, while not fancy or elegant, both tasty and fun.  Kids love it, and as long as you call ahead/make a reservation (I'm not sure if they take reservations, but check, or call about 30 minutes in advance and have your name put on the seating wait list so by the time you get there they are ready for you), it'll be fine!  They serve southern home-style cooking, often with bands, and there is also an outdoor seating area.  It's definitely a sit-down restaurant.

There are some suburban restaurants that are tasty and kid-friendly, but not too fancy to make kids frowned upon: Max and Erma's, Ted's Montana Grill, the Cheesecake Factory (!!!), and the Clubhouse in Oakbrook.  These are all tried and true favorites of my family!

  2. if you want to have fun while you are out, try ed debvics!! so fun, it is like a (d)icks' [ seafood place. They are kinda rude, but not really , i thought it would be like(d )icks' but it is a little more low key. but they would have fun with your child!
