When your kid goes to Kinder for the first day of school did you take her or him or did they ride the bus?

Did they know where to go, or how are they supposed to know where to go?

What if they wonder off and get lost?

  1. I always take my son for the first day of school, to help him get his stuff in and make sure he gets to his class. Don't worry it will be alright your just being a parent. He will be fine. Just take him the first day

  2. The first day I took her myself. I wanted to see her routine. The teacher picked them up in front of the school and walked the kids into the building. The next day I let her ride the bus (special bus for just Kindergarten students). When they get to school, the bus driver sits there with the doors shut until the teacher arrives. The kids then unload, get into their class lines, and head on in. There is as assistant there to help the teacher and there's always a few parents standing around so kids don't have an option of wandering off.

  3. My daughter is heading off to Kindergarten in September and I have been worrying about this since January.  As she is small and will only be 5 years old, I will not have her ride the bus.  She will not know anyone very well and I know there are mostly older children (4th and 5th graders) that will be on the bus.  Since her Elementary School is only up the street from our home, I will be driving her in and she will be picked up every day.  As for whether or not she will know where to go, we've already toured the school and we'll be going again in June so that she can get more familiar with the school and its layout.

  4. Well my son was homeschooled after Prek, but I know it's a good idea to at least bring your child to school the first day to make sure they know where to go.  the first day of school can be chaotic and a little scary.  For both of your piece of mind I would suggest taking them to school.  Maybe let them ride the bus home.

  5. My daughter couldn't WAIT to get on the bus for kindergarten!  It was such a "big girl" thing, and she looked forward to it.  It is also a ton of fun for Moms to take pictures of their little ones getting on the bus for the first time.  A warning though:  bring tissues, because you WILL cry!

Don't worry.  The busdrivers are used to having kindergarten children on the bus, and a teacher or aide will be waiting for them when they get to school.  Everyone looks out for the new kindergarteners.  I have three girls, and not one of them ever got lost or on the wrong bus in kindergarten!

  6. My son just started school this past year (Kindergarten). I took him on his first day so i could help carry his stuff and get pictures. If you do send him on the bus the teachers usually wait for them to get off the bus so they will know where to go and eventually let them do it on their own. They also help them get on the bus too. They do it here not sure about where you live. but i assume they would too.
