  1. I agree with busymom - you need to be very careful online and make sure your parents help and look over any "online opportunity" before you get involved.

Here are some things that my son (14) does that you might want to look into.

1 - He has created his own website on his own which includes a couple of Amazon A-Stores... Amazon has a pretty cool feature that lets you build an online store just through point and click.  He does not make a lot of money (couple of dollars a month) but he has learned a lot about creating web pages and such.  His site is http://www.wigpigs.com

2 - He created much of the graphics for a Zazzle homeschool t-shirt shop that we work on together.  Much like Amazon, Zazzle allows you to fairly easily build your own online store.  The great thing about zazzle is that you get to create your own unique products.  So, if you have a talent with photography, computer graphics and can come up with some clever sayings you might want to consider doing that.  Our "homeschool t-shirt shop" is at http://www.zazzle.com/yourstudentnews*

Either way, your parents will have to help you get started.  They are both legitimate, you can do it completely anonymously so you will not have to worry about revealing any personal information to the "whole wide world."

If your parents help it is a great way to start learning about e-commerce and business.  Don't expect to make a whole bunch of money.  The sites and advertisements that say you are going to get rich quick are all scams.

We have never done it but there is also a site called Lulu that allows anyone to publish and sell original e-books.  If you have any ideas for a short book that might help other homeschoolers this might work for you.

I'm not so sure about the homework thing here on YA... so many of the posts are "do my homework for me" questions.

  2. Doing these kinds of things on line is risky, especially when you are a minor child, or looking for a paid job.

You would have to give those you are tutoring your personal information for them to be able to send you your fee, I would highly recommend against this.

Have you talked this over with your parents?

There are many after school programs, or boys and girls clubs you could volunteer at to help with after school home work help.

This would give you the experience you may need, and you can document these volunteer hours for college.

Your parents will also have a chance to check out the environment, and meet those who run the program.

I hope you find a volunteer job, but be safe.

    Blessings.

  3. Hi, Amanda,

If you like to help people, why not just offer some help here on this site.  Lots of kids here ask for homework help, as I am sure you have noticed, and I expect there are lots of things you could help with.  It might be a great place to start.  Best of luck!
