Kiddie Pool Cover!?

I just bought my son a Step 2 big splash kiddie pool. Its approx 6x4...about 1' deep. I would like to keep it filled with water constantly but would need a cover to do so. Our backyard isnt private and i dont want other children in it. I cannot find anything that would work. it would have to be hard (so it wouldnt collapse if a little weight was put on it.) It doesnt have to be pretty just something i can take off and put on myself! Any ideas would help out alot!! Thanks!!

  1. I am researching this as well, and have another potential idea. I have the same pool you mention.

I notice there is a slight ring around it about 4 inches or so down from the top.

I was thinking of making a fabric top with an elastic edge to secure to the ring. It will not be firm to hold kids out of the pool, but will keep all of the dirt leaves etc from getting in the water. It will also let the neighbor kids know that the pool is closed!

    just an idea.

  2. First 2 answers are great. I would suggest you make legs if necessary so it doesn't collapse the pool edges. Kids will crawl on top of the hard cover if they get the smallest chance.

I am not sure of the age level the Step 2 is: or the age of the kids.

  3. You can use lots of things for that size as your standard sheet of marine ply, plexiglass of whatever you like the look of at your local hardware store is 6 x 4.

You can buy 4, 6 or 8 legs at the same place and s***w them to the sheet, like a low table.

    Hope this helps

  4. A piece of OSB plywood that comes in 4' x 8'  sheets would work.  You can have it cut at the lumber yard to 6' and just lay it on top.
