  1. Lithotripsy is used to break up kidney stones so that they can be easily passed. It is a very safe procedure performed by a Urologist. Your Dad should have very little discomfort and alot of peace of mind knowing he won't have to try and pass the larger stone! I am sure things will turn out well. Good luck.

  2. Several members of my family have had many bouts with kidney stones.  It seems to be an inherited problem.  My Son had his first one at 11 yrs. old.  So far I have escaped it.

My Sister and her Son have had the shock wave done and they say it is the only way to go and much better than trying to pass it on your own.

They both were put sound of sleep and never felt the impact of the procedure.  Both were talking when brought back to their rooms and dismissed from the hospital within a few hrs. Felt Little sore but both were up and about upon returning home.

  3. My dad had it done years ago and he thinks it's a great surgery. What they do is basically use shockwaves to shatter the kidney stones into tiny pieces so that they can easily pass. I'm sure your dad will feel a lot better once it's done. :)
