NEVER play hide and seek in the park with young children you must always keep them where you can see them.  Trips out are okay as long as you have enough adult support. Indoor activities,  play dough is always a good one, recipes for homemade doughs can be found on the Internet.  Painting, especially finger painting,  hand printing and foot printing (a roll of lining paper from a DIY shop is excellent value). Junk modelling is also a very cheap and very rewarding activity which develops many skills. Growing beans in jars to observe and record growth in bean books, later planting in plant pots.  Making sock puppets, old socks and bits of material for features and glue. Magnifying glasses (plastic ones) fascinate children especially observing each others faces.  If your not squeamish go on a bug hunt but always replace what you find "Teach a child to care for the wild".  Hope these ideas are of use to you but remember the most important thing to a child is that you give them your love, time, patience and praise.
