Kids activities?

Question

I nanny for an 8 and 6 yr old. We are doing weekly themes in the summer. I was wondering if anyone had any activity ideas for the themes.

Junes themes are Schools Out theme, Beach Theme, Camping theme, and its a bugs world theme. I have a few ideas for each but was looking for some more!

Check Usborne Books for some great activity books for summer!  I can think of a few that would have great ideas for that age group:  Young Naturalist Kid Kit (book and supplies for catching bugs), Big Book of Things To Do, Vacation Things to Do -

For the beach theme- you can make a beach, glue sand on a piece of construction paper, then mix shaving cream, glue, and some blue paint to make a puffy looking water and lue a yellow sun at the top of the paper.   Something with sand castles...maybe covering paper towel tubes cut to various sizes and covering them with glue and rolling them in sand.



Camping -pitch a tent and make smores.  Go on a bear hunt,  

Bugs- get some potting soil and let the kids play in the dirt, maybe putting some plastic bugs in the dirt.  Watch a bugs life, Antz,  Make a bee from a paper plate- glue yellow and black strips of paper on the paper plate and add coffee filter or wax paper wings.
