Question:

Kids and Alternative Fuel Research?

My son is 12 and very interested in alternative fuel research. Does anyone know where in the US he can go for a field trip or something like that and learn more about what it takes to be a researcher?

He is also interested in environmental research.

I think it is really great that he is taking such a positive interest in one of the best careers for the future and I would love to encourage him.

  1. i would like to know also. and kudos on the algae thing, ive spend a year researching that specifically

  2. Mostly, it takes at minimum a Master's Degree. Then you just have to find a company that does what you're interested in. I suppose you could ask if you can visit such places as that cellulosic ethanol plant that Bush was backing awhile back. Maybe you can find that solar/algae farm that was on the discovery channel awhile back. And for low tech, you could try contacting that agua-luna group out in TX.

  3. Maybe Penn State. Developing the use of alternative fuels is a key component in environmental stewardship, and at Penn State the University's Finance and Business Environmental Strategy is committed to efficient use of energy in its efforts to ensure responsible environmental practices are woven into the business and operational aspects of Penn State.
