Kids birthday picnic party in the park,?

my daughter wants to have a picnic in the park. I thought I would tell everyone to bring a blanket and a lunch. Would this be okay asking everyone to bring their own food? I usually provide all the food at her parties. Any opinions?

Awesome idea!

You could word the invites so that people don't get the idea you're supplying the food.  Here's an idea:  Bring your own picnic lunch to the birthday girl's party on Saturday!   Cake & punch will be provided by the parents.  Hope you can join us!

Of course you can change the wording to suit your invites.  I did this with my son's party last year & it went over extremely well.  Some people brought lunch from home & some stopped at fast food places.  It sure saved me a LOT of money trying to please everyone's food needs!

Really I think you should supply all the food, maybe something as simple as peanut putter and jelly sandwiches, koolaid and cake and ice cream (use dry ice to keep it frozen) or make lunch meat sandwiches and chips. How many kids and how old are they? You could ask everyone to bring a blanket but I really think it is your job as the host to supply the food

Honestly I think you should supply the food.  You can buy different kinds of sandwich meats and cheese. And different sandwich trimmings some bread and let the kids make their own sandwiches add some chips and juice maybe some fruit and you have a picnic that is more hands on.

What about a potluck style party?  You could supply dessert (i.e. the cake and ice cream or whatever) and perhaps hot dogs and have people bring everything else.  It's probably more convenient for each person to bring a lot of one thing than deal with making their individual stuff.  And, everyone would have pick of the same stuff (in case kids liked someone elses lunch more!)
