  1. when u go to school 6 hours a day and wake up at 6am do u really want to come home to homework? i mean i am wasting half my kid life to start with at school and they still cant teach me there...

  2. Since this is the homeschool section I am not sure how you would define the difference between regular school work and homework.  I think my children benefit from just the right amount of study at home, and just the right amount out in the community, we pity the children stuck in the walls of an institution all day.

  3. Since this is under homeschooling I'm assuming you mean homeschoolers being given homework.  Yes and no, if the child is doing well in his/her studies and has not shown any weaknesses, nor struggled with any concepts then it's probably not necessary.  However, nobody is perfect and usually even an above average learner will run across something eventually that is difficult, and in such cases extra worksheets, and homework may be necessary.  As we all grew up learning when you're having a hard time with something, practice, practice, practice to get better and the same goes for any student.

  4. Some homework is OK! I have no problem with an hour or so of work that was assigned in class and not finished.

Assigned every night 4 hour marathons for anyone under grade 12 I have a problem with! My daughter had these sessions until I started home schooling. She was in second grade!!!!! That's ridiculous!

  5. You are darn tootin right they are getting way too much homework. I remember the days when Kindy was about playing and learning to get along with others and you had studyhall to get your homework done in school. You also went to the school library and had everything there to do your research papers. It has gotten out of control.

  6. Under the homeschooling presumption, I do give my son homework. Not a lot, but I give him homework so his Dad can work with him on his school stuff and get to see the progression. Plus, sometimes there are things that I am not able to effectively communicate in a way that my son is comprehending, and it helps to have someone else explain it to him.

For Public school, my son went to Kindergarten and didn't have a lot of homework assigned by the teacher...but he did have homework...writing practice, projects, other things like that. I didn't think it was too much, but my son HATED having to do the same stuff he did at school, at home. But that's not a problem anymore.

  7. HOMEWORK SUCKS!!!!! I send my 3 children to School everyday, ages 11-8-7-6 grades 5-2-1 . My second grader comes home with about as much homework as my fifth grader. I don`t know what they do there at school all day long but, it is surely not homework. I do atleast 5 hours of homework per night. between my fifth grader and my second grader. It is hard. I am so over it! thankfully they get out on May 23!!!!! i am looking forward to it. Also looking to homeschool my children. I think it would be alot better than doing hours and hours of homework from public school!!!

  8. I think kids are getting way too much. My daughter is only 7 and in the 1st grade and has at least math and reading everynite. Sometimes they even throw in science on top of that. Her bookbag is usually so heavy when she gets off the bus, she has to drag it ! We already read before bed as a bonding and relaxing time, but now she fusses because she is tired of it.

  9. Yes!! Kids should learn at school and do chores at home, or read, or excercise

  10. Not from public schooling. If public school teachers can't teach what needs to be taught in the 6 hour day, 5 day week, 9 months of the year time frame they have children incarcerated then those teachers need to be fired for incompetence. What public schools drag out for 12 to 13 years can be learned in two once a child is old enough to begin structured learning.
