My kids are 7 and 8 one boy one girl and they both STILL pee the bed. We don't really make an issue of it but I am tired of washing sheets and bleaching everything. and they cannot stay at other peoples houses because of this. I have 3 other friends whose kids pee the bed as well.

  1. bed my kids also wets the bed,  they are 11,8,6 they will grow out of it dont woory

  2. My 6 year old son still wets the bed.

Last week:  I made him pee twice after dinner and gave him no more liquids after dinner.  He wet his diaper.

Two nights ago:  we were out late and I gave both of my kids a carton of milk from the store.  They both had dry diapers the next morning.

Object of my story?  You can never tell what will set their bladder off.

My son has a plastic sheet around his mattress so it has saved us having to replace it.

I told him that his bladder is just having a hard time maturing as much as the rest of him.  I told him there are lots of kids his age and older that still wet the bed so it's nothing that's his fault.  I also told him I love him and that he's still my great little guy.

  3. Have you taken them to the doctor?  There could be a medical problem.  If not, get them out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.  Don't allow them to drink soda because soda causes gas, gas causes bloating bloating puts pressure on the bladder.  Limit liquids after 5:00pm and don't let them eat anything an hour before bed.  Again it might be in THEIR best interest to see a doctor because there could be a congenital problem.

  4. I suggest you make an appointment with their pediatrician. This can be a sign of a nervous disorder. When we sleep, our brain tells our body not to produce proteins..etc... when the brain doesn't do this, our bladders fill to overflowing and then we wet the bed. You can also try to start them on a fluid schedule. Do not allow them to have any type of fruit juices, ( they can be bladder irritants) after 5 in the afternoon, and no fluids 2 hours before their bedtime.

  5. Only my oldest wet his bed. Teach them to do some of their laundry. You're doing the right thing being understanding. It does get old washing sheets though.

Why couldn't they have a sleep over or go to a sleep over with the other kids you know who pee? Or aren't they all friends? There is always goodnights for sleepovers too, if they are going to a place where no one pees. If they all pee, what would it hurt? We did this for our son, when he was 9. He had 2 friends that peed at night. Everyone was nervous the first time we had them over, until they discovered his plastic sheet. Then the party was on. We made beds for them on cots, in his room, with large garbage bags under the sheets. In the morning, everyone was soaked, but the laughter coming out of his room woke us up at about 7am. They all were relieved and comfortable about their problem after that. They all put their sheets in the wash, showered, ate, and ran out the door as best friends.

  6. whenever they pee there bed u should take away something valuble to them

  7. try no drinks after like 6 at night

  8. This is very natural and can be for years. Make sure they limit liquids in the evenings and go to the bathroom before bed.

It's important not to say anything to them if they're sensitive to it. It's often very embarassing for kids and seeing a parents exasperation or knowing that your parent told someone else is often humiliating.

You don't need to bleach their sheets. Urine is sterile. Simple washing is good enough. Make sure you have a waterproof mattress cover though to save your mattress.

Talk to your kids about Goodnights but don't push them if they're uncomfortable with it. Again, this can be a very tender subject for kids and making sure they know it's normal and doing what you can to help them be more comfortable is very, very important.

Something that helped my son was to tell him if he ever had any dreams about going potty that meant he needed to wake up. Subconsciously, he would dream about needing to go and wake himself up before he had an accident! It may not work with all kids, but some type of self-hypnosis could help.

Another thing that helped was to teach my son how to do laundry. He felt very empowered by the fact that no one had to help him and he felt better about doing it on his own rather than drawing more attention to his accident by having a parent do it. This only works though if they don't think they're being punished by having to do it. If they do feel it's a punishment, it's best to just do it yourself (or teach them how to do a different load and allow them to decide to use this new knowledge when they have an accident).

But again, be very, very sensitive to their emotional needs in this matter.

Be patient, mama. This too shall pass. :)

  9. First get disposable underwear for night time.  Second, go to a chiropractor for adjustments for both of them.  After a few adjustments and then regular ones after the initial few, you can more than likely stop getting the disposable because they will be better.  My 8 year old wet the bed til he was almost 7 and the chiropractor was a sheet saver!!!=)

  10. Its no big thing... lots of kids have this problem.  Have you tried waking them up to go potty about 4 hours into sleep.  This worked well for my son who is 8.  He goes to bed at 8pm I get him up to go about midnight or 1am.  He goes and goes right back to bed.  After a few weeks of that he started waking up togo on his own.

  11. what u can do is get garbage bags under the sheets and all the pee wont ruin the matress. or get night diapers.

  12. Bed wetting is a huge Red Flag.  It's a cry for help! And it is not a part of the normal developing process.  This is not a self care or  home remedy situation.

The kids need a good medical work up.

Bed wetting can be caused by many things.

Your kids might have a chronic bladder infection or other irritation.

There may be child abuse issues you are not aware of.

It could be caused by food, detergent, toilet paper or bath product allergies.

It could be blood sugar problems or diabetes.

Your kids need immediate medical attention.

  13. It's normal- a lot of kids wet the bed well into their teens because their bladders aren't fully developed. Get some goodnites for them so you don't have to wash the sheets so often and limit liquids at night. Cut them off completely an hour or 2 before bedtime. They'll outgrow it. =]
