Kids vs the rest of the family

Do you believe that all members of a family (parents, kids) are equally important, as a democratic unit? Or do the needs of the kids outweigh the needs of any other member?

(this is excluding very young babies, referring mostly to toddlers and above)

  1. A family is far from democratic.

A family could be compared to a team.

Parents are the leaders and children are team members.

Basically the parents need to ensure that the family has it's basic needs met.  This includes food, shelter, clothing, education, love...

Wants then need to be met.

Meeting all of one family wants or needs and not others tends to be unhealthy,

But it can depend on the family too.

It really peeves me off that parents on welfare sit around drinking and smoking and gambling but can't feed their kids,  The parents are the responsible ones, they need to ensure the child have needs met not their (the parents) wants.

It also weirds me out when the mother usually, simply vanishes.  The parent or parents don't meet their own wants or needs...

  2. every one is equally important in a family with kids, but when there's a problem in the family it should be the parents job to take care of the kid(s) because of the lack of maturity in children.
