Men’s Doubles expert Koo Kien Keat of Malaysia is in high spirit to rise in Thomas Cup Finals as he vowed to use his valuable experience in this event, which will be staged in Wuhan, China from May 20-27.
Kien Keat teams up Tan Boon Heong and the duo stands on eighth position in world ranking. They are country’s biggest hope in prestigious team event where all world class pairs will be contesting to seize the crown.
The prime Malaysian duo experienced a bad patch in recent past but they revived their form by winning Malaysia Open GP Gold.
Now the 26-year-old member of duo Kien Keat is determined to continue success run in Thomas Cup also as he hoped that his experience will work in his team’s favour.
He said, "Winning the first doubles is important for Malaysia. I always feel easy in the Thomas Cup and hope to put my experience to good use."
There are rumours that Doubles chief coach Tan Kim Her is toying with idea to break this pair and field them with new partners.
Kien Keat admitted that the possibility is there and he stated that he is prepared to excel in any case.
The Doubles ace will grace the event for fifth time and he is looking forward to forge a fruitful chemistry with Boon Heong like they did in Thomas Cup qualifiers in Macau where they delivered a stunner against higher ranked Koreans.
Kien Keat looked calm while saying that he does not feel any pressure as he has been there for many times. He also added that this esteemed team event will be a good practice run for them before the mega London Games.
He said, "I have never felt pressure nor am I playing in the Thomas Cup for the first time. This will be our best chance to test our level against top pairs before the Olympics."
Meanwhile, national number two pair Lim Khim Wah-Goh V Shem will join them in Men’s Doubles event with the maestro Lee Chong Wei, Daren Liew and Hafiz Hashim representing their country in the Men’s Singles event.
Malaysia will open its marathon against a weak contestant South Africa on May 21, 2012.
