Kieran Foran says Rangi Chase and Sam Tomkins may pose threat to New Zealand
While addressing the pre-match press conference on November 9, New Zealand half-back, Kieran Foran, shared that England’s duo, Rangi Chase and Sam Tomkins, are two players whose efforts have to be pinned down in the weekend's Gillette Four Nations encounter.
Saturday’s game is very important because the winners will be marching into an Elland Road final with Australia and the losers wrapping up their Four Nations Campaign at Hulls.
While speaking about the challenges New Zealand will have to encounter in the sudden-death clash over the weekend, Foran said, "There are plenty - you can't let them break loose. Sam Tomkins and guys like that; if you present them with a loose line they're
going to make you pay for it. We're focusing on our defensive line and what we've got to do in order to shut them down."
He further added, "He's had an exceptional year and everyone has seen how he's performed in the Super League, winning Man of Steel there, and he's a fair player and caused some dramas against the Aussies. We've spoken a lot about him this week and we're
going to have to stay on our guard and try to shut him down."
He also admiited that he was shocked to find out that Tomkins chose to play for England. Nonetheless, this is entirely the player's pick how he wishes to develop his career in international rugby.
The man of steel is also posing a severe threat to the Kiwis, who have to factor in Chase’s on-field brilliance. He is not an easy player to have in opposition. England’s profile has already risen with their star studded team and their rock solid defence.
England and New Zealand, both support a similar record, with a win each to their credit, along with a defeat against the Australian side, who are the undisputed favourite of the series. Australia have lived up to expectations as they have so far not been
defeated by any of the contenders. In lieu of their successive wins they have cemented their berth in the title decider of the Four Nations.
