Kieron Dyer joins Ipswich Town on loan from West Ham United – Barclays Premier League news
West Ham United have announced that midfielder Kieron Dyer has joined Championship side Ipswich Town on a one-month loan deal.
Dyer failed to feature regularly for the East London club since returning from injury. He found himself out of favour at Upton Park and his injuries have prevented him from any significant playing time in the current 2010-11 season. His sorry state can be
judged from the fact that he has only made 17 starts for the Hammers since making his debut in September 2007.
He has made only 13 appearances in the current season including quite a few from the bench. Dyer who once was hailed as one of the most talented wingers in the country has now returned to the club where he started his professional career. He was promoted
from the Ipswich http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 to the first team in 1996. He made a total of 90 appearances during his three seasons at the club, scoring 9 times along the way.
Dyer then made a move to Newcastle United in 1999 where he spent the major part of his career. He was the only English player to be signed by Ruud Gullit and the £6-million transfer fee received by Ipswich at that time is still a record fee received by the
club.
Dyer spent 8 seasons at the Tyneside club, making a total of 250 appearances and scoring 36 goals for the club. His last couple of seasons were plagued by injury which then forced Newcastle United to cash in on the winger.
He was part of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 squad in the World Cup 2002 and Euro 2004 but his career was hampered by a series of injuries after that. Dyer is more than likely to leave Upton Park in the summer and a loan deal with Ipswich will give him a chance to showcase
his ageing talents in the Championship.
At 32, he is nearing the end of his career but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Jewel has given him another chance to get back to playing football. The man who has played 33 times for the National team will go straight into the playing squad for Ipswich match at the weekend against
Leeds United.
