Kieron Pollard to miss Big Bash due to injury – Cricket News Update
West Indies’ all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844.
The coach of the Strikers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Shane-Berry-c52490 said that Pollard’s unavailability was a big loss for the team, but that will give an opportunity to some other player to come in and make an impression.
The star West Indian cricketer was in tremendous form and would have been a great addition to the Big Bash. He was a part of his national team in a recently concluded five match One Day International (ODI) series and proved his worth to the team, scoring
a splendid ton in the final game.
Pollard’s most impressive thing in that knock was the powerful hitting, which almost guided the team to victory. He hammered 119 runs off 110 balls in that match and was the last man to be dismissed.
The highlight of the innings was the 10 sixes hit by the tall player, who could have easily won the game had he got some support from the other end. He will also be disappointed to be ruled out of the Aussie Twenty20 league, but will aim to recover soon.
South Africa’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/J-Botha-c1610, who was already signed by the Strikers. Both players have plenty of experience and can prove to be match winners.
According to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Berry-c47842, “Our plan was always to rotate the international players, and now with our additional signing, it means Alfonso Thomas is able to slot straight into the team. We are obviously disappointed to lose Polly and his firepower in our middle
order, but we won last year's T20 competition and have proven we can win without him.”
He further went onto say, “The two international players (Botha and Thomas) we have already in the squad, along with the rest of our local stars who formed a large part of the winning team last year, will hold us in good stead.”
The first match of the Big Bash will be played between Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat on Friday, December 16, 2011.
