The hard-hitting middle order West Indies batsman had failed to capitalize on good starts in earlier games. However, he played a meticulous innings last night and went on to score a safe 99 before pulling Sharma to Kohli in the 43rd over where
the fielder dropped a sitter to allow Pollard to notch his maiden ton. Pollard was thankful to Kohli for giving him a chance at 99.
"Significant hundred. I was looking for a different approach after I have had a couple of starts in the earlier matches,” said the Trinidadian when asked about his century knock. “Thank God, one of the best fielders (Kohli) in India dropped me on 99 tonight,"
he said in a lighter mood.
Pollard conceded that he played a conscious knock and was looking for singles and doubles. The belligerent West Indies batsman said that he would learn from last night’s painstaking innings and vowed to continue doing well for the side.
