Kill as many mosquitoes as possible in less than a week?

Mosquitoes have taken over my backyard. We have trays under some of our potted plants that sometimes fill up with water, but we've put mosquito-killing chemicals in them. I'm planning on having a pool party in my backyard this friday...and it's monday evening. Any ideas on how I can keep these bloodsuckers from ruining my party?

Since mosquitoes and other insects are attracted to light, we put solar lights on the boundaries of our backyard. That way, when the sun sets, the lights come on, and there they go! During the day, just have scented candles going. That keeps them away. Have fun at your party!

There are insecticides you can get by the bottle that will hook up to your garden hose.  Use them.  We used to have a 4th of July party every year and I would kill every living thing in the yard about 1 week before hand.  I recommend doing 1 treatment tomorrow, and then another Thursday morning.  Make sure you get the bushes around the permiter of the area you are trying to protect.  I found (and I could be crazy) that heavily sprayed bushes tended to help "guard the yard".

Is this the best thing for the environment?  Hey, sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Make sure you have NO standing water this week.  Garbage cans, dog food bowls, soda cans, anything.  Good luck.
