Killer Graces back at Hollywood Park in the Sharp Cat to pick up where she left from
Part owner and trainer, Jerry Hollendorfer has seen and tested his 2-year-old filly Killer Graces over the Cushion Track five times this year, and it was showdown to letdown as Killer Graces owned the track in her first two stakes races but managed a fifth
and sixth in her next two over the same track.
Hollendorfer is adamant to keep his juvenile filly on the cushion track and he enters her in the $100,000 Sharp Cat in the Hollywood Park fall meet, where Killer Graces will run over a stretched distance of 1 1/16 miles, a distance she isn’t familiar with.
The race will commence on 13 November, 2011, at Hollywood Park. Managing a second place finish in her maiden special weight race to winner Free and Able, Killer Graces turned a new leaf in her next two starts as she spurred up a few surprises for her connections.
Astonishingly, Killer Graces showed that she can pack a potent punch when she surged through to victory in the non graded stakes race, Cinderella, at Hollywood Park on 11 June, 2011, over at five and a half furlongs defeating Chloe W and Willa B Awesome
on the way, while covering the distance in 1 minute and 4.48 seconds.
Next up it was the Landaluce Stakes, another non graded stakes race for Killer Graces, but she didn’t mind as she topped the six furlong distance in 1 minute and 11.23 seconds, downing the favourite Mighty Caroline and the third place finisher Stayclassysandiego
at Hollywood Park on 16 July, 2011.
With the non graded stakes races out of the way, it was time for Killer Graces to join the graded stakes company and that is where she has disappointed a little bit.
Sixth place finish in the Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes at about six and a half furlongs on 5 August, 2011, at Del Mar and a fifth place finish in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante also at Del Mar on 3 September.
It is clear to see that Killer Graces prefers Hollywood Park’s cushion track over Del Mar’s and she had her problems coping with track at Del Mar, and that is why she is pointed back at Hollywood to continue the good work.
