Killer Graces returns to her most successful venue for the Railbird Stakes
Co-owned and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer for a partnership that includes Daniel Borislow, Gillian Campbell, and Steve Melen, Killer Graces, is returning to her favourite venue, the Betfair Hollywood Park, where she will compete in the Grade 3 Railbird Stakes over a distance of seven furlongs on 19 May, 2012.
Bred in Kentucky by Brian Kahn, Killer Graces will go up against four other, 3-year-old fillies. The filly will be making her fourth start of the season, and she will be cut back to distance from 1 1/8 miles to seven furlongs, and will be switching to synthetic from turf.
The 3-year-old Congaree filly has run over the Hollywood Park’s cushion track on 5 occasions, and not once she finished worse than second.
Killer Graces debuted her racing career at Hollywood Park over a distance of four and a half furlongs, but finished a whisker adrift of the winner in second, but bounced back to win Cinderella Stakes at about five and a half furlongs under Joe Talamo at the same venue last year.
Jerry Hollendorfer kept stretching her out in distance, as her third start at the Hollywood Park was a six furlong sprint in the Landaluce Stakes that she won in fine style, defeating Mighty Caroline in second and Stayclassysandiego in third, while she covered the distance in 1 minute and 11.23 seconds.
Out of Old Trieste mare Heatherdoesntbluff, Killer Graces made her fourth start at Hollywood Park on 13 November, 2011, when she participated in the Sharp Cat Stakes. She tried two turns for the first time, but fell a little short to finish second to winner, Charm The Maker.
Though, it was her destiny to win a big one, and hats off to Jerry Hollendorfer for recognizing her potential over two turns, as the trainer entered his filly in the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet Stakes, which Killer Graces won defeating her Sharp Cat rival, Charm The Maker in second.
Winless in 2012, Killer Grace needs a victory to get things back on track. She has finished second in the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes in her seasonal debut, seventh in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes and third in the Grade 3 Providencia Stakes going the longest in her career at 1 1/8 miles.
