Killer Graces to rest till March 2012 and that is when she will debut her sophomore season in the Las Virgenes Stakes
Revenge is always sweet, but it’s sweeter when it takes immediate effect and similar was the case when Killer Graces lost to Charm the Maker in the Sharp Cat Stakes, a prep race for Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet, and then came back to take her rightful place
in the finishing order by defeating Charm the Maker in second place, and the rest is history.
To the winner, Killer Graces, go the spoils, and now it’s time to build on the biggest win of her career and set eyes on another grade 1 race called the Las Virgenes, run over Santa Anita Park’s dirt course at about a mile on 3 March, 2011.
The race is exclusive for 3-year-old fillies, and from where Killer Graces will start her 2011 sophomore season.
“If she keeps improving, we can take a shot at it,” Hollendorfer said Sunday.
The aim would be to target the Kentucky Oaks later on, and to tread a path toward is, Jerry Hollendorfer has done it before back in 2010 when he conditioning the ultimate filly, Blind Luck, and she went on to win the race in style.
Same is in stored for Killer Graces who have proved herself after improving every race she ran in her juvenile season and capped off her juvenile season with a win in the most prestigious race there is for 2-year-old fillies.
The Hollywood Starlet also marked Killer Graces’s third stakes win, as the first one came in her second start of her debut season in the Cinderella Stakes at Hollywood Park on 11 June, 2011, over at five and a half furlongs.
Her second stakes race win was her third start, right after the Cinderella Stakes, Killer Graces, downed the Landaluce Stakes at 6 furlongs over the same cushion track of Hollywood Park on 16 July, 2011.
Before her 2012 campaign gets underway, Killer Graces, will be given a well deserved rest after running seven times in her juvenile season, with a potential 2012 debut in the Grade 1, $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes.
“We may gave her a little break and start her back in the Las Virgenes,” Hollendorfer said.
