We have a huge swarm of ant right outside our home. They are beginning to get in in places.

We were told that we could use 7 dust but its very dangerous to use that or other chemicals around nour small kids.

Is their another way to rid us these little b******s?

  1. Sprinkle cornmeal around the opening.  They will eat it and carry it back into the nest.  Cornmeal is indegestible to them and once it is in them and it expands they explode.

I live in an area with a lot of ants and use a product called Amdro Ant Block (available at Home Depot and Lowes).  I have dogs, therefore am very careful.  After sprinkling the Amdro around the nest opening, I place a large nursery planter pot over the hole, leaving a few low spots so the ants can get in and out. Then I put a heavy stone on top to weight it down and keep the dogs from getting into it.

I really hate using chemicals at all, but we have red fire ants, and large black ants that bite and I am allergic to insect bites and stings. I really don't need to be in the emergency room for treatment every week.

  2. yes, there is. Spread  soap and water throughout the places the ants are going to. You can also use vinegar to wash the places with. Make sure it is sticky but not sweet.

I would maybe make a kill area of their little ant hills. You should go to the pesticides places for kills of that kind, or just leave them be.

  3. sounds crazy....but listen dig 4 small holes one at each corner of the property and place 5lb bags of sugar in each hole, the ants will automatically go to the sugar...after about a week or so place poison in each hole and burn them little b******s!!!

  4. uncooked grits.....Place them around the area. They will take them back to the nest and as we all know, the other ants will eat them. Mixing of the salvia and dry grits causes the ants to swell.......presto  they're gone....

  5. Diatomaceous Earth

Kills Ants, Fleas, Ticks, Cockroaches, Earwigs, Slugs, Beetles, Flies, Silverfish, Bed Bugs and many other pests, naturally, without harsh synthetic chemicals!
