Killing flys, done in Mexico?

in mexico they had paper plates with something on it,that if flys landed on it they would die,does anyone know what could possiabilty be on those plates?

Sorry I haven't a clue. But what a lot of people do, including myself, to repel them is to hang from the ceiling a clear plastic bag full of water and one or two copper coins. Don't ask me how or why it works, but it does! I had a restaurant on the beach and the kitchen was constantly plagued by flies - 50 at a time. After hanging just two bags, all but one or two flies disappeared.
