Killough Bar has all the right moves in A3 win at Sheffield
A greyhound race can be likened to a dance competition. Those with the right moves are the ones who usually end up as the winners, and that’s what happened during another exciting race
meeting at Sheffield.
Killough Bar (3-1) emerged as the champion of the A3 race, as his early pace from trap five allowed him to lead second on the way to a 30.21 finish. Preston Frost (7-2) had every chance
to claim the win, but fell short, finishing 1½ lengths out of the top spot in 30.33 to earn second place.
Cool Moon (4-1) rounded out the top three by finishing in third place. She moved slowly away and crowded third, resulting in a loss of 2½ lengths and a time of 30.53. Dunelm Duke missed
out on a top-three finish by just a single length. The 11-4 long shot crowded third and ended up in the number four spot in 30.61.
Tis Done (5-1) held an early pace and had every chance to take the lead, but ended up with a fifth-place finish that was a neck behind Dunelm Duke. Magna Gale, the favourite on 2-1 odds,
disappointed many by finishing last. She moved slowly away and crowded third to finish a shoulder out of fifth place in 30.64.
Following the A3 race was an A2 race that saw Droopy Safina do the Droopys bloodline of greyhound racing proud, with a close win. Coming into this race, Droopys Safina was billed as the
9-2 long shot, and she surprised many with her victory. Coming out of trap five, she led third and impeded the run in, finishing in 29.93. West Riding Lads (5-1) was just a ½ length behind her in 29.97, after being disqualified from the win.
Third place was claimed by Swift Pit (4-1), who moved slowly away, losing 2 lengths in the process. He went on to complete the race in 30.13. Coolemount Jet (9-4) bumped first, landing
him in fourth place, with a time of 30.17. He was a ½ length out of the top three.
Sheffield Eagles, the 2-1 favourite, had every chance to soar to a win, but failed to capitalized on the opportunities. He finished a neck behind Coolemount Jet in 30.19 to take fifth
place. Bringing up the rear was Freespirit Teal (3-1), who placed last after bumping first and crowding three-quarters. He finished in 30.27, 1 length out of fifth place.
The next series of races at Sheffield Greyhound Stadium will be held on Friday, 5 November. The first race will begin at 18:38.
