Killzone 3 – Weapons Guide – Part 2
After going through the ISA’s M82 Assault Rifle and the Helghast’s StA52 LAR in the previous article, it is now time for a change of pace, as well as a change of calibre, as we move on from Killzone 3’s Assault Rifles to their smaller, more frenetic younger
brothers, the SMGs.
Shooting things off with the ISA LS57 Submachine Gun. Entering the Killzone gun universe is not an easy feat as competition is stiff and every weapon needs to stand out.
Not available in the single player campaign meant that it had an even tougher time endearing itself to the short-on-time multiplayer gamers, who tend to rely on the true and trusted when it comes to online play.
However, the LS57’s strength lies in its ability of being remarkable at both close quarters as well as short to medium range. The Medic class starts off with the weapon, with the other two having to be unlocked and players take little time to settle into
the weapon.
After just a few rounds, players come to understand what a valuable asset the LS57 can be. Best used as a secondary weapon, with an Assault Rifle or a LMG as a primary weapon, the debutant to the Killzone world is one that is fun to use at first, but fades
into the background once other weapons come into play.
The next SMG to go under the Bettor.com microscope is the M66-SD Submachine Gun. Used only once in the single player campaign, albeit a very memorable and tense stealth sequence, players will remember this weapon as the one Luger carried in the original
Killzone game.
Still packing the same amount of punch, the weapon can be unlocked as a sidearm in the multiplayer mode by both the Medic and the Marksman classes. Once it is unlocked, the weapon soon becomes a favourite with players looking for the slightest excuse to
pull the weapon out and use it.
Recommended for use only in close proximity to the target, the player who can master the weapon can really make a real difference on the battlefield.
Finally, we return to the Killzone universe’s old favourite, the StA-11 Submachine Gun. While it may not have reached the cult status of the StA52 LAR Assault Rifle or the VC32 Sniper Rifle, it more than makes up for it with its phenomenal rate of fire.
A weapon of mass destruction at close quarters, the StA-11 was dubbed the headshot machine in Killzone 2, and while the bullet spread has been reduced in Killzone 3, the increased accuracy makes it a weapon to be reckoned with, for different reasons.
While not as freely available in the single player campaign as we would have liked, once players get hooked on to this weapon in the multiplayer modes, there is little to no going back when it comes to SMGs.
With the Tactician loaded out with a silenced version of the gun, taking spawn points and holding objectives in tight areas becomes all the more easier.
