Killzone 3 gets the routine patch, 1.12 brings a number of tweaks and changes – PlayStation 3 News
Guerrilla Games, the developer behind PlayStation 3’s premier first person shooter, Killzone 3, have a reputation of providing a constant stream of updates and tweaks to the game, based on player feedback via its online forums. The next batch of tweaks is
on its way and is expected to hit the PlayStation 3 in a few days on September 6.
Guerrilla Games released the list of changes that the patch will bring come its release. For career paths, there have only been changes in the Marksman and Engineer class, with the latter receiving more attention.
The Engineer’s Turrets can now track players with greater efficiency as the turn speeds have been increased and the armour of the same turrets have also received a 30 percent increase, but at the same time, ballistics, such as the grenade or rocket launcher,
can take them out with a single hit.
Moving on to the Marksman and it seems the stealthy snipers’ ability to jam radars has been restricted as the scramble ability has been turned into an active ability. This means that much like its cloaking ability, the Scrambling ability can only be activated
for a limited period of time before it has to be recharged.
The StA-2 Battle Pistol has also been made more destruction savvy, as the detonation time for its grenade has been reduced. Not only that, but the damage dealt by the ensuing explosion is more powerful. One can expect to see more players carrying this weapon
around when the patch releases.
In a move which seems to see Sony and Guerrilla games showing off the console and the game’s capabilities, a real-time projector has been added to one of the multiplayer maps (MP15 Radec Academy).
One criticism which many fans had was that the sounds that followed when an opposing player was killed were fairly annoying and luckily, it seems that the game’s developer felt the same way as the ‘death screams’ have been toned down.
Also, players can now disable the six axis only controls for players with disabilities. This means that arming explosives and turning valves can now be done with buttons, rather than the motion control alternative. When it comes to multiplayer gameplay,
a number of changes have been made to make the game more tactical and reduce some of the spamming in the game.
The time it takes for mortar strikers to recharge after use has been increased significantly from the 30 seconds it originally took, to 60 seconds. In an effort to get players to focus more on taking objectives instead of amassing kills, the number of mission
points in Warzone has also been increased. A few other tweaks have been made to the game including the reduction of time during the interval between the matches.
The overall feel of the patch is that developers are looking to increase the pace of the multiplayer experience and gamers can find out just how well they have accomplished that by trying the game out themselves.
