PlayStation 3 users can download the multiplayer component of Guerrilla Games’ first-person shooter for free on the PlayStation Network. Does have rank limit though.
Killzone 3 celebrated its first birthday party a few days ago as the game completed 365 days on the market. The game is known as being the premier shooter on Sony’s PlayStation 3 console with its brutal hand-to-hand combat melee kills, atmospheric environments and phenomenal multiplayer action.
Almost every PlayStation 3 gamer picked up a copy of the game for themselves and by everyone we of course mean the first-person shooter gaming demographic. However, it seems that Sony and Guerrilla Games are hoping to tap into the rest of the market as well.
In order to do so they have released the multiplayer component of the game as a free download for anyone who has a PlayStation Network account. The game can be downloaded via the PlayStation Store after which gamers can jump right into the multiplayer action.
There is, however, a catch, as there is with everything that has the word ‘free’ smeared all over it. Although all the multiplayer maps will be present for play there will be a cap on how high a player can rank within the game.
As players rank they unlock more weapons and abilities, so it seems that gamers who will be using the free version of the game will only be able to progress to a certain limit before their progress is halted.
The only way to continue ranking up after that is purchase the game, which Sony are offering at a reasonable $14.99, which is not bad if one thinks about it, though that depends on how much the player liked the game.
Either way, the free download is a great way for those who were wary of shelling out the cash when the game was released and removes the risk from trying it out now. The game is still one of a kind when it comes to multiplayer and atmosphere as the ‘Warzone’ mode continues to have us at the www.dbuz.com office hooked.
