Kilmarnock boss targets win over Rangers
Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen says that he is confident his side can cause Scottish Premier League champions Rangers problems when the sides meet at Rugby Park on Saturday 20 November.
Paatelainen has guided Killie on a good run of form that has seen them win three of their last four games, against Heart of Midlothian, St Johnstone and Hamilton Academical, and draw their
last match against sixth-placed Dundee United, whom they are now just one point behind in the SPL table.
That solid recent form, which has also seen Killie net 10 goals, has led Paatelainen to believe that his side can stun the League leaders on Saturday, but is well aware that the Ayrshire
club will be underdogs in the game, even if Rangers' players have one eye on their UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester United the following midweek.
Paatelainen told reporters that: "Rangers are bound to have one eye on United. It's a huge match for them and to play Manchester United is never a minor day on the calendar. But knowing
their players, they are really professional and they grind our results despite their hectic schedule. They seem to play more or less the same faces all the time but maybe that's a strength as well. They have a consistency and on Saturday they'll be 100 per
cent.
"From a Scottish point of view I hope they beat United, that would be good for Scottish football. They believe they can beat United and we believe on our day we can beat Rangers. It's
a similar situation. Hopefully the underdogs get the result both times. I'd take that. Our aim is to be positive."
Following the match against Rangers, Killie will next take on Aberdeen on 27 November, Motherwell on 4 December and Celtic on 11 December
as they continue the push to secure a top-six place at the end of the season.
