Kilmurry Kid likely to complete hat-trick today
In this season, Kilmurry Kid has run just one race and won it convincingly. He also finished first in his second last outing last year. Now, the John Long  trained bay gelding is keen to complete his hat-trick by winning the Horse & Jockey Handicap Chase
that will go down at Thurles racecourse on Thursday, October 25.
To earn this ace title, the nine-year-old veteran horse will have to stretch his legs over the distance of 3 miles to compete against 17 rivals. The €6,900 contest will go over yielding surface.
The momentum Kilmurry Kid gained with his last victory will surely lend a great hand to him in today’s race. He is likely to get the favourite tag as well.
The biggest objection on the Irish runner’s career is that he has been inconsistent since the very beginning. The critics claim that he does not run with regular intervals. After a big race, he takes long breaks.
On the other hand, there are some analysts who opine that this inconsistency is the key to Kilmurry Kid’s success as his trainer always gives him a proper time to rest and restore his energy.
The maverick sprinter’s last two starts were really amazing. On May 1, 2011, he elegantly beat Ard Na Raithnigh by the big margin of 5 lengths to win PJ Dore & Enzo Open 4yo+ (Mdns Excl) at Ballysteen. The distance of the race was three miles with the ground
being good to firm.
On October 11, 2012, the son of Witness Box out of Kiltannon nicely notch the title of Tramore Racecourse 1912-2012 Centenary Handicap Chase by outplaying Big Jemmy with the margin of 1 ¾ lengths.
Both were elegant performances that exposed Kilmurry Kid’s talent very well. It is hoped that he will do the same in this race as well.
Accidently, Big Jemmy is again here to challenge him and retaliate his defeat. Thus, the John J. Walsh trained chestnut gelding can prove to be fatal enough for Kilmurry Kid.
The rip-roaring clash between the two old rivals will be exciting to watch. Let us see who carries the day. Good luck to the both.
