Kim Clijsters and Victoria Azarenka talk about their Australian Open semi-final draw – Tennis News
Former world number one, Kim Clijsters, will fight through pain to make sure she defends her Australian Open title successfully in Melbourne, Australia. Her next target is to hammer down the 3rd ranked, Victoria Azarenka,
in the semi-final of the tournament. It is going to be a tough ride for the wounded Belgian warrior on Thursday but she is making no excuses and looks to fight her heart out in order to book a place in the grand finale of the year’s first Grand Slam.
Talking about her fellow semi-finalist, Azarenka, Clijsters said, "Tough player, Tough match. She's playing extremely well, playing with a lot of confidence and she's going to be a completely different match. She takes a lot more
initiative; hits a lot down the middle of the court - deep, hard.”
She overpowered world number one, Caroline Wozniacki, in straight sets in the quarter-final on Tuesday. It was not an easy task for the Belgian tennis ace; severe injury issues and medical prescriptions were left behind for the
love of game; such is the passion of the Belgian to be the best in the business.
Victoria Azarenka was also excited about her match and her performance is worth mentioning. She has been overshadowed by the likes of Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Clijsters but her performances were
absolutely stunning proving to the world that she is a well-deserving world number three.
Talking about the preparations and expectations of her match against Clijsters, she said, “Kim is a great champion. She knows how to be in the situation, handle big matches. But we'll see. I just try to stay fresh out there and
keep playing my game." It shows that her expectations are not high from the match but she will not gift the victory to her opponent and fight till the last point.
It is going to be one of the most entertaining battles of the tournament and people will love to see the Belgian battling it out against the Belarusian at Rod Laver Arena at the Melbourne Park. Mammoth turnout is expected to witness
such a breathtaking encounter that will be followed up with another enthralling battle between the 2nd ranked Kvitova and former world number one, Maria Sharapova, for a place in the grand finale. Less can be said about the possible winners of the
semis but the two contests will certainly be nail-biting one.
