Kim Clijsters confident about Rogers Cup
The tennis star from Belgium, Kim Clijsters, is showing no respect to her rivals as she is thrashing all her opponents in the Rogers Cup, being held in Montreal. In her recent match the current World number four made her way through to the quarterfinals of the event by ragging a victory over her veteran rival Kaia Kanepi by 6-2, 6-1.
The two set match turned out to be a piece of cake for the Belgian tennis ace as she out played Kanepi in all formats of the game pretty convincingly. While talking about her victory against Kaia Kanepi, Kim expressed her views and said that it was probably an easier match for her as compared to the previous one. She added that her previous match against Bethanie Mattek-Sands of United States was tougher than this one because Bethanie was making fewer errors during the match and she was fighting hard. Later she added that she is happy that she had successfully utilized all the chances of winning the game and she cannot wait to play in the quarterfinals. Clijsters is no doubt enjoying her time out in Montreal and playing at her best. While talking about her current form she said that she is feeling great, as if every victory is giving her a new confidence boost, which helps her to play and experiment new stuff during her game.
Kim Clijsters, will now play against Russian tennis veteran and eighth seed, Vera Zvonareva, in the quarterfinal. Vera is not going to be an easy task for the Belgian because she is enjoying good playing form and she has the ability to clutch victory at any stage. Zvonareva has made her way to the top eight stages of the tournament by hammering Hungarian tennis player Agnes Szavay in a very convincing manner with the score of 6-3, 6-3.
The next match against Vera is going to be a tough battle for Clijsters but the twenty-seven year old tennis star seemed very confident and relaxed as she is very well aware of her capabilities. While talking about her upcoming match against Zvonareva, the former World number one Clijsters told the media that no doubt she is one of the best tennis players in the world and she is a very difficult opponent to win from as well. Later she added that she will try to give her full in the match against Zvonareva because she is very well aware of the positive and negative aspects of her game. Kim said that she has to work hard on her accuracy and consistency to grab the lead over her Russian ace opponent. The twenty-seven year old and former World number one Kim Clijsters is very confident about her skills and she is of the view that if she will play her best against her rival she will surely get all the success.
On the other hand, Zvonareva is looking quite eager to play against her rival as well. While talking to the media Zvonareva expressed her thoughts confidently and said that she is very well aware of her game and she has a very firm belief in her remarkable abilities. Later she added that she is not working on a plan to play against her Belgian opponent but she will give her best in the court by analyzing the situation and chemistry of the game.
In the other matches on Thursday the World number two, Carolina Wozniacki, made her way to the top eight stages by crushing her fifth seeded opponent Lavia Pennetta, after an exciting battle in a three setter match by 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Whereas, on the other hand the French tennis ace Marion Bartoli clutched a convincing victory from Iveta Benesova of Czech Republic by 6-0, 6-1. Bartoli will now face Victoria Azarenka in the top eight stages of the Rogers Cup.
