Oldies of women tennis will contest in the opening round of the Olympics tournament. It is going to be a terrific match-up between the former world number one, Kim Clijsters, and the 27th ranked Italian veteran, Roberta
Vinci.
Both players are 29 years of age and have seen all kinds of formats in their professional tennis career. So, it will be a game of nerves, guile and precision.
Clijsters might not be in her supreme touch having being troubled by several injuries; however, on a given day, she can outclass players like Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams as well. There is no doubt about the class of the
Belgian superstar, however, the only thing that matters is how much stamina she has got to keep the fighting spirit intact.
Putting some light in the past encounters between the two players, one can easily say that the 36th ranked Belgian can easily overpower the superior ranked Italian.
Clijsters leads the head-to-head scores by 2-0 but both these matches were played almost six years ago. So, the probability of any psychological advantage is minimal. However, mind games will definitely be played when both players

Vinci, on the other hand, is considered a doubles specialist but has always retained a respectable ranking in the singles category as well.
So, there is quite a possibility of the 29-year-old Italian rising up to the occasion and plonking the Belgian superstar who will start the match as the favourite despite her inferior rank.
Vinci has lost to the low ranked players on multiple occurrences in the recent past whilst Clijsters has been stubborn against the underdogs. Hence, she is the favourite to win the match.
