Former world number one, Kim Clijsters, is all set to pile up several titles to her tally in 2012. She is all fired up to show the world that there is nothing that can stop her from breaking into top ten ranks and intimidate
number of defending champions in the coming year. According to her, frustrating 2011 will be followed by an emphatic 2012 and this will be proved in Melbourne, Australian, when she will defend her the Australian Open title in January, next year.
She returned to the tennis arena two years back, after dismissing her retirement. She stated to prolong her career to next Olympics battle, which Olympics will commence in London in 2012. It will be interesting to see how
far the 28-year-old tennis icon can climb up the ranks before she decided to say goodbye to her professional tennis career.
Her coach, Carl Maes, has already announced 2012 to be her farewell year but the final decision from Clijsters is still awaited. Commenting about her Olympics preparation and retirement plan, she stated, “At the moment, I'm
not even thinking about the Olympics. I don't think like that. In tennis, the season is long and it's tough and I just try to focus on one week at a time and my next focus is Brisbane and that's what I'm training for.”
It is good to see the Australian Open defending champion prolonging her career and providing her fans with opportunities to witness their icon in action at elite professional platforms. Talking about her New Year preparations,
she said, “That's why I came here (before Christmas) to be ready to try and be the best Kim I can when I play my first match here. One day at a time." She is in Brisbane preparing for her first tournament of the year, which will provide an opportunity to loosen
up before the first Grand Slam tournament of the year starts.
There is no lack of motivation and injuries are her past; she is a new improved player now and will emerge as one of the most feared competitors for her rivals. She was convinced that her enthusiastic continuous practice
will reap fruitful rewards for her in 2012. She further added, “I push myself hard every practice now and that's the motivation factor that's there and to achieve that little bit extra that's a detail you definitely need to have."
Everyone is eagerly waiting for the new season to start when the talking will stop and the game will start.
