Kim Her decides to finish make-break pair exercise – Badminton News
Malaysia’s doubles head coach Tan Kim Her has decided to finish his make-break pair exercise and now he is focused to turn available pairs into a perfect unit for the future.
In recent past, Kim Her was experimenting with his Men’s doubles teams and he came up with some unique combinations by shuffling and transforming them.
The sudden injuries of few doubles experts like Teo Kok Siang, Chooi Kah Ming and Mak Hee Chun in previous season forced Kim Her to discover new partnerships and he reformed many couples under his charge.
Now, after a few month exercises, it seems the coach is done with all the combinations and focused to build a perfect doubles unit for the future as he intends to stop putting his doubles experts in further trials.
Kim Her said, “This is to build the squad to focus on the future. There will be no more trials and experiments. The Australian Open next week will be the last experimental tournament. After that, the players will have to stick to the combinations that we
have decided. ”
Meanwhile, when he decides to stick with his old guns still there will be some minor changes as Tan Wee Kiong will join hands with Hoon Thien How and Kok Siang-He Chun will try to revive their old bond.
Kim Her wants all these doubles experts to help the duo of Kien Keat and Boon Heong for the upcoming mega events like London Olympics and Thomas Cup finals.
He said, “For now, we have an important four-month period where everyone in the doubles squad will help Kien Keat-Boon Heong in their preparations for the Olympics as well as the Thomas Cup.”
The coach looked satisfied that all the pairs are settled now and building good chemistry as they are in comfortable zone with their partners.
The hard work paid off for him as now he has strong pairs like the World Number eight pair Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah, currently ranked 29 in the rankings, while the injured players Kok Siang and Kah Ming have also made a successful
return to the arena.
The other pairs in the squad are Thien How-Wee Kiong and Mohd Lufti Zaim-Vountus Indra Mawan while the two junior couples Nelson Heg-Teo Ee Yi and Kah Ming-Ow Yao Han will also get chance to register their mark at the senior level.
