Kim Her intends to throw more chances to back-up pairs – Badminton News

Doubles chief coach of Malaysia, Tan Kim Her is impressed with the performance of back-up Men’s Doubles teams in Malaysia Open and he indicated that they will be given more chances in near future.
This Grand Prix Gold event reached its climax on May 6 and national reserve squad performed beyond expectations in front of top pairs of the country.
The scratch pair like Nelson Heg-Teo Ee Yi and Ow Yao Han-Chooi Kah Ming showed elevated craft as former ended this home event by reaching the round of eight while the latter stood at second position on the victory stand.
Kim Her was pleased with the effort of second class teams and he declared that these back-up pairs will enjoy more opportunities in future to register their presence in the arena.
He said, "A total of six pairs are part of the programme until 2014 and I want to give these pairs longer runs to prove their worth."
The badminton guru is working on his reserve Men’s Doubles experts to prepare them for prestigious events of 2014.
Asian Games and Thomas Cup will be most prominent tournaments in 2014 and Kim Her has formed a special squad which includes pairs like Mak Hee Chun-Teo Kok Siang, Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong, Ow Yao Han-Chooi Kah Ming and Nelson Heg-Teo Ee Yi.
National head coach is firm to continue with this squad and he believes these spirited shuttlers will gain valuable experience by playing some major events before 2014.
Kim Her said, "There will be a lot of tournaments for them and a specific programme until 2014 and there won't be a major reshuffle until then."
Meanwhile, the coach did not give much credit to Malaysia Open Champions Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong as he stated that Thomas Cup Finals will be real test of their skills and they will have to put in their best if they want to rise later in the 2012
London Olympics.
Thomas Cup Finals will be in full swing from May 20 and all top teams of the world will be gracing the event with their presence.
The World Number eight Malaysian duo Kien Keat-Boon Heong will have to stretch hard to prove its worth in this esteemed team event.
